JEE Main 2018 Result, Scorecard and Rank List, how to check result

JEE Main 2018 Result will be declared by Central board of secondary education(CBSE) on 30th April 2018 for Paper 1 and on 31st May 2018 for Paper 2. JEE Main Scorecard is the base for admission in the top engineering colleges (Private & Government). Candidates who want admission in the IITs need to crack JEE Main as well as JEE Advanced.  JEE Main 2018 result will be available via online mode only i.e. over the official website of CBSE. to check your performance in the JEE Main 2018 Candidates need to enter their roll number and date of birth with captcha code as needed in the result page. In their result candidates will be able to check their sectional marks, cut off marks for JEE Advanced 2018 and category wise or all India Rank in the JEE Main Exam. How to Check JEE Main 2018 Result?

JEE Main 2018 result will be available on the official website i.e. https://cbseresults.nic.in. To access the results, follow the given steps:

  • Visit the official website of CBSE i.e. https://cbseresults.nic.in
  • Click on the direct link to JEE Main result.
  • Enter Roll Number and Date of Birth. 
  • Click on submit button.
  • You will be redirected to your JEE Main 2018 Result  where you will able to check your scorecard, sectional wise marks, category wise ranks and all India Rank.
  • Save and download your scorecard. Take multiple copies of the scorecard.

Formula to calculate JEE Main Score

JEE Main Score = 4 marks x number of correct answers – number of wrong answers x 1

Normalisation of score

  • JEE Main Rank List is prepared after finding a composite score of JEE Main scores and Normalized Marks of Class XII in the ratio of 60:40.
  • The total marks (of all five subjects) obtained/shown on the mark-sheet of a particular year are required in JEE (Main) and also in JEE (Advanced).
  • If a candidate has appeared in six subjects in the qualifying examination, the subject (fifth or sixth) with better marks will be considered.
  • Candidate should keep in mind that percentage of marks and percentile are totally different entities.
  • Percentile number of candidates in your board with lesser aggregate marks×100Total number of candidates in the group
  • Percentage = marks obtained×100Maximum mark which can be obtained

JEE Main 2018 Rank List

JEE Main rank will be declared at the time of the announcement of result. The Merit Rank list will take into account the scores in JEE main as well as 10+2 board results. However, there will be a separate list for each category. Tie-breaking rules which are applied in case candidates scores equal marks in the JEE Main exam are mentioned below:

Tie Breaking Criteria (Paper 1): 

  • Higher marks in Mathematics, the candidate will be given better rank.
  • Higher marks in Chemistry, the candidate will be given better rank.
  • Higher marks in Physics, the candidate will be given better rank.
  • By finding the ratio of negative and positive marks. Students who are having higher absolute value will be given a better rank.
  • If the tie still remains, same JEE Main rank will be given.

Tie Breaking Criteria (Paper 2):

  • Higher marks in the Aptitude test, candidate will be given better rank.
  • Higher marks in a drawing, a candidate will be given better rank.
  • By finding the ratio of negative and positive marks. Students who are having higher absolute value will be given better rank.
  • If the tie still remains, same JEE Main rank will be given.

JEE Main 2018 Cut-off

Cut–Off mark is the minimum score required to qualify JEE main 2018 and to appear in JEE Advanced to get admission into IITs. The cut-off will be released along with the result. JEE Main cut-off will depend upon various factors like students appeared in the exam, difficulty level, etc. Cut-off will be released category wise.

What other things Candidates need to Check along with their JEE Main Result:

  • Candidates need to check their qualifying status for JEE Advanced 2018.
  • Candidates need to check; whether they are under the top 2,24,000 rank list category or not.

What is the basic difference between Percentage and Percentile

It is mandatory to all candidates that to know the difference between percentage and percentile as for admission to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. To eligible for this institutions candidates should be either in top 20 percentile in qualifying examination from the recognized board or should be scored 75 or 75+% marks in class 12th Exam. Subjects Needed for calculating Percentile:

The top 20 percentile will be considered from the below given five subjects for fulfilling the JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria:

  • Language
  • Physics
  • Mathematics
  • Any one of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject)
  • Any other subject

Those who have taken 6 subjects in their qualifying examination then their fifth subjects will be calculated from the better from fifth and sixth subjects. Top 20 percentile will be calculated for JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Plan) from the below given subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • Other four subjects

JEE Main 2018 Counselling

  • JEE Main 2018 Counselling will be started from the month of June 2018.
  • The counseling procedure of JEE Main will be regulated by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) and CSAB.
  • Only the candidates who qualify JEE Main Exam will be eligible to attend the counseling process for seat allocation in all the participating Colleges (except IITs & ISM).
  • Candidates with at least 75% aggregate marks in Class XII are eligible to apply for JoSAA.
  • Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will organize counseling for JEE Main (All India Rank) & JEE Advanced. Candidates can register as per schedule and select preferences for colleges and branches.
  • JoSSA Counselling is conducted for admission to 93 IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs including ISM Dhanbad.
  • The centralized counseling will be carried out in online mode.
  • CSAB will organize the special counseling round for admission to SFTIs (Self-Financed Technical Institutes) and NEUTs (North Eastern and Union Territory Institutes).

JEE Main 2018 Official Answer Key

  • JEE Main 2018 official answer key will be released in the third week of April 2018 (tentative).
  • The OMR Response sheet of the candidates will also be available for download from the 3rd week of April 2018.
  • The candidates will be able to challenge the released JEE Main 2018 official answer key. It has to be done within the allotted time and should be backed by a substantial proof.
  • To challenge the official answer key, candidates will have to pay INR 1,000 per question which is challenged. The fee is non-refundable.
  • CBSE’s decision against the challenges will be final and nobody’s claim or communication regarding this will be entertained.
