NIT Arunachal Pradesh is one of the 31 NITs of the country. It was founded in 2010. It is located in the small town of Yupia in Arunachal Pradesh. The institute offers various B.Tech programs. NIT Arunachal Pradesh offers admission to deserving candidates in 7 various engineering branches, based on the JEE Main AIR of candidates. The branches are as follows:

There are 30 seats for each engineering branch. In 2016, counselling and seat allocation of candidates was held for 210 seats.

JoSAA conducts and manages the process of counselling and seat allocation for all the NITs, IITs, IIITs and GFTIs. There are 5 or 6 rounds of counselling. After completing each round, a new merit list will be published. The seats in NITs are divided under Other State (OS) and Home State (HS) quota. According to the norms prescribed by the Government of India, seats in NITs are reserved for different categories.

Registration Process

There are various steps in the procedure of JEE Main counselling and seat allocation of candidates. There are as follows:

  • Online registration
  • Online filling and locking of choices
  • Seat Allotment
  • Payment of fee and acceptance of seats
  • Document verification
  • Reporting to the institute

The steps for online registration process are listed below:

  • Candidates need to access the online registration form of JoSAA 2017
  • Visit the official website of JoSAA
  • Enter the roll number of JEE Main 2017 and your password
  • Click on the login button
  • Go through the instructions properly and click on “I agree” after reading them
  • JoSAA registration form will appear on your computer screen.
  • Fill all the required details carefully
  • Verify all the details furnished by you before clicking on “Confirm registration”.

After online registration, candidates have to click on “Choice filling & locking” where they have to select their choice of institute and program. Candidates can select as many options as they want. Once they have submitted and locked their choices, it cannot be altered. Seat allocation will take place on the basis of AIR rank and choice of candidates.

Counselling Procedure

JEE Main counselling will be conducted by JoSAA. The following factors will be taken into account by JoSAA before allocating seats to candidates:

  • AIR of candidate in JEE Main
  • Category of candidate
  • Choice of candidate
  • Availability of seats

Candidates will be informed about seat allotment through email or SMS on their registered email ID and phone number a few days after choice locking. Candidates need to download their seat allotment letter and carry it to the institute allotted to them. The admission procedure for B.Tech programs in NIT Arunachal Pradesh will commence from the month of July, 2017.

The documents that candidates need to carry for verification purpose during the time of admission are as follows:

  • Provisional Seat Allotment letter
  • JEE Main 2017 Admit card
  • JEE Main 2017 Score Card
  • Mark sheet of Class 10
  • Mark sheet of Class 12
  • Migration Certificate
  • Category Certificate
  • Medical report in the format specified on JoSAA website
  • Photo ID Proof
  • Passport size photograph that candidates have used during JEE Main registration

Candidates have to make payment of the seat acceptance fee through SBI Net banking/e-Challan. The provisional admission letter will be issued to candidates only after payment of the seat acceptance fee and document verification.
