JEE Advanced Result will be announced tentatively in the first week of June at the official website i.e. www.jeeadv.ac.in. It is a National level entrance exam which is managed by 7 IITs on a rotational basis. The result will be available in the form of rank cards.
JEE Advanced examination is open for Indian National and as well as Foreign National candidates. It is the second stage of Joint Entrance Examination i.e. JEE. So, students have to appear for this examination two consecutive times. For checking the JEE Advanced Result, students have to logging into the result portal by entering their application number and date of birth.
Those who have successfully cleared the entrance examination will only be able to download the answer key from the official website. According to the students score they will be called for counselling and seat allotment process will be done. JoSAA is responsible for organizes counselling.

The details mentioned on the result are as JEE Advanced Registration Number, JEE Advanced Roll Number, Scores obtained in all 3 sections, Total Scores in JEE Advanced, Qualifying Status, Email ID, Gender, Date of Birth, Nationality.
How to check JEE Advanced Result
The JEE Advanced result can be checked through online mode only. The result will not be sent to the student’s address via post or courier. Students can get the notification regarding the declaration of JEE Advanced Result on their registered mobile numbers. Steps for checking the result are as follows:
- Visit the official website of JEE Advanced
- Click on the “JEE Advanced Result 2018”
- Enter the information like Roll number and Date of Birth
- Click on the submit button
- The result will be displayed on the screen along with the rank in JEE Advanced
- Students can download & take the printout of result for future use
JEE Advanced Answer Key
Answer Key help students to get a rough idea about the marks they are going to score in the examination. Only those students are able to download the answer key who, have successfully appeared for the exam. The answer key can be checked via online mode only. It will contain all the answers to the questions asked in the paper.
JEE Advanced Merit List
Students who have appeared for both the papers i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2 will only be considered while preparing JEE Advanced Merit List. As per the student’s marks in the entrance exam, they will be ranked in the merit list accordingly. Tie-breaking policy will be used for ranking students in the merit list
JEE Advanced Tie Breaking Policy
Students who have scored higher marks in the Mathematics section will be ranked higher on the merit list
If still, the tie remains same, then those having higher marks in Physics will be ranked higher in the merit list
It tie still didn’t break, students have same marks will be awarded the same rank
JEE Advanced Cut off
Cut off marks is the minimum marks scored by the candidates in order to qualify the examination. So, it is clear that students having marks less than the cut off marks will not be considered eligible for admission. Only candidates having rank equal to or more than cut off will be eligible for admission.
Cut off marks will be decided on the basis of various factors such as Number of candidates appeared in the exam, Difficulty level of the exam, a total number of seats available for admission and previous year cut off marks.
Cut off marks will be declared category-wise, that’s why cut off marks required by the students belong to SC/ ST/ PwD General/ PwD SC/ PwD ST Category is 38. JEE advanced cut off marks obtained by the General category candidates is 75. While OBC-NCL category candidates have to score 67 cut off marks.
JEE Advanced Counselling
Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the main conducting authority which is responsible for organizes counselling process. Counselling will be conducted through online mode only. The process is comprised of total seven rounds. On the basis of students rank, they will be called for counselling. At the time of counselling process, students will have to fill their choices of colleges and courses where they are seeking admission.
Steps involved in the counselling process are Online Registration, Choice filling, Choice locking, Seat allotment letter, seat acceptance & reporting to the allocated college, Online fee payment, and Documents for Verification.
The online registration for JoSAA Counselling will commence from the fourth week of June. After students will be allocated seats they have to report to the allotted centre for document verification. There are total 23 IITs which offers seats to the various category candidates.
